What is it?
Pouting has a white, clean, tender, flaky flesh, it goes well in soups , stews, fishcakes and even fried fillets. It is very similar to whiting.
Preparation Options
Our pouting are usually already gutted you can have them scaled and bake them, or filleted to fry or use in a fish pie.
Is it sustainable?
Pouting is not a targeted species therefore no information is available on the current stock levels. However it's biology suggests that it would be moderately resilient to fishing.
